Trip the Light Fantastic
After that, Sophie paused her musical career to take care of her first child, a boy named Sonny, with her husband, Richard Jones, who is bass guitarist for The Feeling. In early 2005, she performed on a track by the duo Busface, entitled "Circles (Just My Good Time)"; she is credited under the temporary pseudonym "Mademoiselle E.B." because she didn't want the track to be mistaken as a single from her next album. In 2004, she announced that she was working on a third album. She has worked with Fred Schneider of The B-52s and Richard Barone (formerly of The Bongos), Shelly Poole (formerly of Alisha's Attic), Cathy Dennis and Kerin Smith (formerly of theaudience) among others to create a fun dance/party, disco-pop album which was released on May 21st, 2007 and is entitled Trip the Light Fantastic.
In August 2006 it was announced that she was the new 'face' of high street fashion chain Monsoon replacing the model Sophie Dahl. She was also first choice for the controversial Agent Provocateur luxury underwear commercial which she turned down. (The role instead went to the second choice - Kylie Minogue).
Before the album two singles were released, Catch You, which charted in the UK through downloads alone at #18 and peaked at #8 after a physical release and Me and My Imagination which was released May 14th and charted at #23. The single currently sits at #26 whilst her album Trip the Light Fantastic debuts inside the UK Top 10 at #7. Sophie will be supporting George Michael on his UK tour leg in June 2007.
Catch You" is Sophie Ellis-Bextor's first single from her third album, Trip the Light Fantastic.
The single was presented on New Year's Eve 2006/2007 on the BBC's "New Year Live" show. The music video was filmed in Venice and Sophie Muller directed the video. The full video was released to UK music video channels on the 13th of January. The video has been compared to the movie Don't Look Now (1973).
"Catch You" was released on February 19, 2007. Its immediate competition included Kelis's new single "Lil' Star", The Fray's "How To Save A Life", Take That's "Shine", Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around..." and Mika's "Grace Kelly".
"Catch You" has peaked at #8 in the UK top 75 and also did very well on the UK iTunes charts, peaking at #3 on the iTunes Alternative chart and at #9 on the main chart. It reached the B-list section of Radio 1's playlist and the A-list section of Radio 2's playlist.
"Catch You" did well in the UK, staying in the UK Top 40 for 2 months, where it has sold 52,000 copies.
"Me And My Imagination" is Sophie Ellis-Bextor's second single from her third album, Trip the Light Fantastic.
The song was due to arrive digitally on May 7th, but there were technical problems involving the iTunes music store and it was only put up on Napster. Sophie has expressed her dissapointment about iTunes' failure in uploading the song on time which prevented the song from achieving a higher chart position. The CD release and full digital download was out on May 14th. In the end the single did well considering the circumstances.
The song was recorded and co-written with Matt Prime with renowned British writer Hannah Robinson.
It leaked onto file sharing sites back in January 2007. Its first official airing was part of a Channel 4 ident for its teen magazine T4's New Music March advert. The ad featured a number of female artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae, Mutya Buena and Natasha Bedingfield. When Sophie appears in the ad the opening line to Me And My Imagination can be heard. The song has been placed on BBC Radio 2's A-List and BBC Radio 1's B-List.
Ja sam je baš zavoleo posle pesme "Catch You". Šta vi mislite o njoj?
