Primetio sam da je (izgleda) konacno izasao ivrijev album na engleskom! genijalan je!

I nije samo u Izraelu poznat, u Australiji je gostovao ove godine na mardi gras, po Americi silne svirke ima... napravljen je njegov prvi english album Fly/Forget na kome je izmedju sotalih ucestovao i Lou Reed...

How were you discovered?

The story is when I was 18 I wanted to go to UCLA to study film but my parents didn’t have money to pay that. I said to myself, I’m going to stay in Israel and work for four years. I was trying to save some money to go to UCLA and while I was saving money I sent a cassette with 19 songs to three major record labels, which is a funny thing a kid would do. But one of them called back and said, “I like you, let’s meet.”

We worked together for a year and it ended up being my first album. When it was released I was in Japan performing with the biggest Israeli dance company. I wasn’t even thinking it of I’m going to be a big singer. After a month, we had a celebration for a gold record and suddenly I was a singer. I realized I’m probably not going to UCLA. Laughs. My second album did well, and suddenly I was big in my country.

Has being openly gay in your career been an obstacle?

I don’t think so, totally not. I decided to come out after my second album cause I felt pretty stupid not to doing an interview like this and not talking about my boyfriend or what’s in my songs it’s so weird and old school to me so I just did. I did this interview and people want to know so why not, what’s the problem. I have to tell you the only bad response after this interview was a gay website. They said I’m not gay enough.

Tel Aviv is very liberal, it’s a very gay city actually. You know what, I didn’t know what was going to happen, the record label was a bit freaked out, the PR person was a little freaked out, but you know what? It was never a problem. And the girls got even crazier! Now it’s like a double thing that they can’t get me.

What’s the first single off of Fly/Forget going to be?

That’s a good question. I haven’t decided yet. There’s a song called “Mike” on this album that was chosen by Amnesty International for their compilation. It was used as the single for their project called Peace.
