Gej ljudi su uvek bili obožavaoci Sex and the City, uglavnom zbog toga što je i serija bila “obožavlac” gej ljudi. Osim što je Cynthia Nixon bila u vezi sa ženom i modna dizajnerka Patricia Fields bila je lezbejka, karakter koji se uvek pojavljivao da prikaže homoseksualnost u pozitivnom (mada nekada i sa stereotipima) kontekstu.
